Curve is a leading producing theatre, creating compelling cultural experiences for all those who live, learn, visit and work in Leicester. Under the leadership of Chief Executive Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Nikolai Foster, Curve has developed a reputation for producing, programming and touring a bold and diverse programme of musicals, plays, new work and dance. All of this is presented alongside a dynamic mix of community engagement and learning opportunities, which firmly places audiences and communities at the heart of everything we do. 

 

We are seeking a creative, passionate and dedicated 18 – 23 year old to join Leicester Theatre Trust (LTT) Board as our Young Trustee. The selected Young Trustee will co-chair Curve’s Youth Panel and feedback on discussions to the main board. LTT Board meetings take place at Curve 4 times a year, and Youth Panel meetings take place at Curve 6 times a year.  

This voluntary, unpaid position will play an integral role in ensuring Curve continues to engage with young people from across Leicester, Leicestershire and beyond. Ideally the young person who is successful will live, work or study in Leicester or Leicestershire.  

The successful applicant will have a strong commitment to the arts and will have had a prior relationship with Curve, whether that is as an audience member or a participant. As a member of the Board the Young Trustee will be responsible for ensuring that Curve is delivering its charitable objectives, and for representing young people currently engaged with Curve, and in the broader community, to the Board.  

The Young Trustee should be educated to at least A level standard or equivalent and will have excellent communication skills, and the ability to articulate structured well-formed views and liaise with stakeholders at all levels. The successful applicant will be willing to commit to the role and responsibility of being a charity trustee and will preferably have previous experience of committee membership.

Opened in 2008 by Her Majesty The Queen, our award-winning building, designed by acclaimed architect Rafael Viñoly, offers a completely unique visitor experience.

Unlike any other theatre in the UK, we have no traditional backstage area. Audiences can enjoy the full theatre making process, peek behind the scenes and maybe even spot an actor or two dashing from the stage to their dressing room or enjoying a coffee in our Café. Our curved façade is made from 1,192 tonnes of steel and 46000m² of glass.
